On a trip to the Shenandoah MountainsI saw these beautiful horses grazing way up on this hill. They looked so peacful and happy in the early morning spring air.

- Janice Gay Maker
- My interest in art began as a young child. Growing up in New England, I would spend endless hours drawing animals and other images from nature. I studied painting at the Massachusetts College of Art, where I received my my BFA in Painting in 1981. In 1986 I relocated to Norfolk Virginia and have worked from my downtown studio at the d'Art Center, since 1992. For several years I created landscape paintings in oil pastels. At the present time I enjoy painting plein air when ever possible, working from my studio in oils and oil pastel and teaching classes and workshops and private sessions in oil and oil pastel.
